Gettysburg 2021

September 8th, 2021

Gettysburg, PA

Return to Gettysburg!! We can’t relive the past, but we can enjoy some great memories and make some new ones. Our gathering will be at the General James Longstreet Monument on West Confederate Ave in the Battlefield Park. For those of you who attended our Gettysburg Regional, this was the 2nd stop on the tour with lots of shade, parking, and restrooms. Bring your own picnic lunch, lawn chairs, and non-alcoholic beverages. (Bottled water will be supplied) After a leisurely lunch, we will cruise through the battlefield and enjoy the sights without the stress and anxiety of directing (without losing) 47 vehicles and 105 attendees! LOL!

July 10:

This is NOT a regional. There will not be awards, or any other typical regional activities. We are planning a casual gathering at the Gettysburg Battlefield Park on Wednesday, September 8th 2021.

Plans are to meet at the Sleep Inn in Emmitsburg, MD at 10 AM, take our Falcons on a scenic tour over Jack’s Mountain and thru a Covered Bridge and continue to The Historic Round Barn (west of Gettysburg).

After a short visit we will continue to Seminary Ridge and stop at McMillian Woods and view the battlefield from the Confederate side. Then continue to the Longstreet picnic area. Please bring a light picnic lunch, bag chairs and Mason/Dixon will provide water. Food can be purchased for this at Jubilee Grocery Store across from the Sleep Inn prior to leaving hotel or you can pack a lunch. Port a pots are at this stop as well.

After a casual lunch we will continue through the Battlefield and meet up with a Park Ranger for a 2 PM talk at Little Roundtop for a prospective of how the battle of Gettysburg unfolded.

After the Park Ranger talk, we continue through Devil’s Den and to the Pennsylvania monument.

If time permits, there is a 4 PM Park Ranger talk at the Soldiers National Cemetery.

We will then proceed to the Appalachian Brewing Company for dinner. After dinner, we will return to the Sleep Inn for a casual get together.

For those who would like to stay Tuesday night, Wednesday night or Thursday night, the Sleep Inn has been gracious enough to give us a rate of $95 per night plus tax, with a cancellation policy of 4 PM day of the reservation. Please call the Front Desk at 301-447-0044, mention Mason/Dixon Chapter to get the reduced rate.

For those staying Tuesday night, we plan to leave the Sleep Inn at 5:45 PM to have dinner at the nearby Ott House Pub in Emmittsburg,

If you plan to attend, please contact Pat and Diane Varricchio at Steeler306@comcast.net so we can give you any updates if there are any changes to the itinerary.

May 20: The Return to Gettysburg is being offered on a Tuesday – Wednesday mostly to avoid the large weekend crowds and to offer a reasonable motel room rate for those who might want to stay overnight.  Gettysburg WILL NOT be a regional show, NO Awards, no meals in the parking lot, no banquet.  We are going to approach the owners of General Pickett’s Buffet in Gettysburg about a group meal offering on Wednesday late afternoon, but as of today – they have not re-opened for business, so that is a detail that will have to be finalized.  Lots of time between now and September.  We are also looking at a couple of cruise opportunities around Adams County for Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning.  These will be led by members of the Mason-Dixon chapter and will be routed out through the country side orchards, to the Round Barn, possibly the Adams County Winery, and very likely up into the Michaux National Forest for a short distance.  In addition, there will be many options for free time for attendees to go out on their own to sight see.

Left Rear brakes locked up, SMOKIN HOT.

Got it rigged up and made it home.  Turned brake adjuster all the way down.

Family Motto, “Where there’s a Wolfe there’s a way” (and there were two Wolfes).

Just rebuilt the brakes this week. The one side of the wheel cylinder locked up.

All wheel cylinders were replaced in 2015 when I added power brakes ? ? ?

Is it bad China parts?  Brake fluid is nice and clean.
